Where is Donna Laine Fine Jewellery?

Donna Laine Fine Jewellery is at 79 Parchment Street, Winchester, Hampshire SO23 8AT, just off Winchester High Street. The nearest car park is Tower Street, around a 5 minute walk away.

What are your opening hours?

We are open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 9:30am to 5pm, and Sunday from 11am to 3pm. We are closed on Wednesdays.

Do I need an appointment?

Walk-ins are welcome for repairs and for browsing the shop. Appointments are needed for bridal and engagement ring consultations, valuations, and Vault Clearance sale visits. Call 01962 860202 or 07377 883664 to book.

Do you repair jewellery?

Yes. We repair all types of gold, silver and platinum jewellery in our own workshops, using both traditional hand tools and modern laser technology. Our jewellers are family-trained. Most repairs take 7 to 9 working days.

How much does it cost to resize a ring?

The cost of resizing a ring depends on the metal and how far the size needs to change. Bring the ring into the shop or contact us, and we will quote you before any work begins.

Do you offer rhodium plating?

Yes. We offer a complete rhodium plating service in our own workshop, generally taking 7 to 9 working days. We polish the piece first to remove all scratches and traces of old plating, which restores white gold to an as-new condition.

Do you repair watches?

Yes. Battery changes and simple repairs are carried out in-house, usually within a few hours. More complex repairs are handled in our workshop. All repairs are guaranteed for twelve months. The price of a battery change depends on the size and brand of the watch.

Can you value my jewellery?

Yes, and we offer two kinds of valuation.

Valuations to buy or sell are carried out in-house by Donna. These need an appointment, booked a couple of days in advance.

Fully certified valuations for insurance, probate and other legal purposes must go to an external registered valuer. Drop your jewellery to us on a Monday, collect it within 14 days, and your written valuation reaches you the weekend after collection.

Do you carry out probate valuations?

Yes. We provide fully certified valuations for probate and other legal purposes. These go to an external registered valuer, and the process and timescale are the same as an insurance valuation: drop off on a Monday, collect within 14 days, and the written valuation reaches you the weekend after collection.

Do you buy jewellery?

Yes, we buy gold and diamonds, though we cannot guarantee an offer or a quote on every piece. Please call 01962 860202 or 07377 883664 a couple of days ahead to book an appointment.

From what age do you pierce ears?

We pierce ears from age 7 upwards. Anyone under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Ear piercing must be booked a few days in advance - call 01962 860202 or 07377 883664.

Can you design a bespoke piece of jewellery?

Yes. Our in-house design team can create a piece from scratch, or rework and remodel jewellery you already own to bring it back into wear.

Do you sell engagement rings?

Yes. Our engagement and bridal collection spans antique, vintage and newly handmade pieces. Engagement ring consultations are by appointment.

Do you sell antique and pre-owned jewellery?

Yes. We are known as "The Home of Antique Fine Jewellery" and stock pre-owned, pre-loved and antique pieces alongside finely handmade new jewellery.

Do you clean jewellery?

We offer a complimentary cleaning service for jewellery bought in store. We also recommend that all fine jewellery is professionally cleaned and checked periodically for loose claws and wear to the setting.
